Min. Dr. Sophia Cohall, First Lady of LRBC, is a woman of God, who has a heart for people. She is embraced by many as a mentor, spiritual advisor, and most importantly, servant of Jesus Christ. She believes in the power of prayer and has served the Lord in ministry for over 30 years. First Lady Cohall plays a vital role alongside her husband, providing guidance in many areas of the ministry. Her keen insight into organizational management has enabled her to play an invaluable role in enhancing and supporting the corporate accountability of the church while maintaining its biblical mission.  

She is a product of the New York City Public School system, and a graduate of Hunter College, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics/Accounting. She is also a graduate of Fordham University, where she earned a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) degree, with a concentration in Management Systems. In May of 2020, she completed her Doctor of Philosophy degree (PhD) in Church Leadership, Administration, and Policy at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education.  She is a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, and Alpha Sigma Nu. 

She previously worked at Marsh & McLennan Co., for 17 years in several capacities, including Vice President of Finance, Financial Analyst, and Senior Accountant. In April 2005, First Lady Cohall left her very demanding corporate career to dedicate herself to her family and to ministry. 

First Lady Cohall became licensed to Christian ministry at The Lenox Road Baptist Church in June 2012. She currently serves as Director of Women’s Ministry, Lenox Road Bible Institute Instructor, and Director of The Lenox Study Hall, (an after-school and homework help program) which she started several years ago, to provide a safe place for children in grades 1 through 10. There are a host of other positions that she has held at Lenox Road Baptist Church over the years. The principles she has gleaned from the study of God’s Word, her academic studies, and her many years of experience in church leadership and administration continue to positively impact others with whom she shares work and ministry. 

Pastor and First Lady Cohall are the proud parents of two adult children, Shannon and Kirk.
